A workshop at the sector’s own national conference in Wellington, then the Auckland report launch — and one number that reframes the centre tour: 76% of families who toured enrolled.
Auckland, New Zealand – August 2026 – Resonate CX brought its 2026 childcare customer experience research to New Zealand across two engagements in four days: a workshop at the Early Childhood Council’s national conference in Wellington on 31 July 2026, followed by the company’s own report launch event in Auckland on 3 August 2026.
Taking the Research to New Zealand’s Early Learning Sector
At the ECC Conference 2026, “The Power of Choice”, held at Tākina Convention Centre in Te Whanganui-a-Tara / Wellington, Mita Bedi, CEO & Co-Founder of Resonate CX, facilitated a workshop titled Understanding Parent Choice: Childcare Customer Opportunities for 2026. Four days later in Auckland, she presented the full Childcare Customer Experience Trends & Insights Report 2026 | New Zealand to centre owners, operators and senior early learning leaders over lunch.
Both sessions covered the same territory: acquisition, tour-to-enrolment conversion, family segmentation, churn signals, and the safety and trust factors shaping how New Zealand parents choose and stay with a provider.
What the 2026 Research Reveals About Parent Choice
The research, conducted to a 95% confidence level with a ±5% margin of error, found:
- 43% of families discover providers primarily through Google search
- 76% of families who toured a centre went on to enrol
- 20% switched childcare providers in the last 12 months
- 36% of families use services three or more days a week in 2026
- +14 Net Promoter Score among current families
The picture is one of renewed volatility in the segments that drive partial churn, alongside heightened parental scrutiny around health and safety. The single largest opportunity the research identifies is not marketing spend — it is the tour. Families want more questions asked and more space to surface concerns, rather than a walk-through they observe passively. Structured objection handling during the tour is where enrolments are won.
Why the Centre Tour Is a Critical Conversion Opportunity
The single largest opportunity the research identifies is not marketing spend — it is the tour. Families want more questions asked and more space to surface concerns, rather than a walk-through they observe passively. Structured objection handling during the tour is where enrolments are won.
“Seventy-six percent of families who tour, enrol. That single number should change how every centre in New Zealand runs a tour,” said Mita Bedi, CEO & Co-Founder of Resonate CX. “And a +14 NPS with one in five families switching in a year tells you the loyalty is thinner than it looks. The centres that will hold their occupancy are the ones listening in real time, not at the exit interview.”
